‘Metallica By Request’

Metallica’s 2014 European tour includes having fans help out with the song selections.  Think you can build a better setlist than the metal masters themselves?

James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo are calling the opportunity to help decide each night’s setlist, “Metallica By Request.” Fans will be invited to vote on 17 out of 18 tunes that traditionally make up a Metallica concert.  Expect the band to pick a new song for No. 18.

“We are once again psyched to break free of the four walls in the studio to get energized by our devoted European friends for a couple of weeks next May and June,” Ulrich said.  “On top of that, the fact that all our nutty fans will pick the songs we play should be some next level fun and take a big load off my shoulders as the guy who usually writes the setlist!”

But you need at least one concert for you to create a proper setlist.  At this time Metallica has revealed plans to play three festivals in Germany – in Hamburg June 4, in Nurburg June 5 and Nuremberg’s June 6.  Expect more dates to be announced.
