Keller Williams Gets His Funk On
Williams worked with More Than A Little on his upcoming album, appropriately titled Funk, scheduled for a Nov. 12 release.
This doesn’t mean Williams is idle until 2014. Currently performing solo as well as with inventive collaborations, Williams is on the road for most of the rest of this year and will do a couple of seldom-held “Keller & His Compadres” shows in Keystone, Colo., a few days before Christmas that feature him pairing with Michael Travis and Michael Kang from the String Cheese Incident on the first night and with Drew Emmitt and Vince Herman of Leftover Salmon on the second evening.
Multi-instrumentalist Williams will also curate and perform at The Rex Foundation’s annual benefit, this year dubbed “Nightfall of Diamonds,” taking place at San Francisco’s Fillmore Dec. 7. The night will also include the maestro performing with his Grateful Grass trio featuring Yonder Mountain String Band’s Jeff Austin and String Cheese Incident’s Keith Moseley.
But we’re hardly scratching the surface of Williams’ varied show plans.
Williams will helm his annual SPCA Holiday benefit in his Fredericksburg, Va., hometown Dec. 26. The 13th annual show will take place at Old Silk Mill and leads into his New Year’s Eve run featuring shows in different towns up through Dec. 31.
