Managers Appeal Talent Agency Act Decision
The National Conference of Personal Managers has appealed a decision dismissing the managers’ federal lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of the California Talent Agency Act.
U.S District Court Judge Dean Pregerson dismissed NCOPM’s lawsuit March 5.
The appeal claims the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court committed judicial error and abused its discretion in dismissing their lawsuit and requests the court of appeals to declare the talent agency act unconstitutional.
“The provisions, interpretation and enforcement of the TAA unfairly single out personal managers and deny us our constitutional rights,” NCOPM President Clinton Ford Billups Jr. said, adding that personal managers have lost in excess of $500 million in compensation because of the act.
