Those who have trouble understanding the success of Rain, PSY, Girls Generation and the seemingly endless conveyor belt of K-Pop stars may find enlightenment at this year’s Music & Media.

Sami Häikiö from Music Finland is moderating a panel that features Pelle Lidell (Universal Publishing), Hyowon Chung (Sony/ATV) and Jin Hwang explaining this ongoing phenomenon.

The Finnish conference will also have a session called “Export is Not A One-Way Street,” which will revisit the subject of bilateral cooperation between artist representatives in neighboring countries.

The Lost In Music Festival that runs parallel to Music & Media has announced 100 Finish acts hoping to impress delegates from neighbouring countries.

They include Anneli Mattila, Astrid Swan, Black Lizard, MIAU, Neat Neat, and Nerve End. The acts from neighbouring countries include Estonia’s Elephants From Neptune and Latvia’s Instrumenti. Music & Media and Lost In Music are in Tampere, Finland, Oct. 17-20.
