Christine McVie Back With The Mac

A few stops on Fleetwood Mac’s upcoming tour will be extra special thanks to Christine McVie’s return to the stage. Rather than a rumour, this news comes straight from Stevie Nicks, who hasn’t revealed too many details about the reunion.

After the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and played the Grammy Awards, McVie retired from touring in 1998. Fans will once again get the chance to see the vocalist/keyboardist perform with Nicks, Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, and Lindsey Buckingham on the fall trek that kicks off in Dublin in late September.

So says Nicks, who spilled the beans during a recent interview with BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour.

“She is going to come and do a song on the second two shows,” Nicks said. “I think it will probably be ‘Don’t Stop.’ I don’t know, but she’s coming to Ireland to rehearse with us.”

Written by McVie, the hit single “Don’t Stop” hails from the band’s celebrated 1977 album Rumours.

Nicks didn’t specify which gigs she was talking about. Could it be the second of two nights at The O2 in Dublin along with the second of three nights at London’s The O2? Fleetwood Mac is booked Sept. 20-21 in Dublin and Sept. 24-25 & 27 in London.

The BBC notes that a spokesman for the band couldn’t confirm details about the tour.

McVie must have had a change of heart about performing. Or maybe an asteroid might be headed our way.

When Rolling Stone asked Nicks last year about the possibility of McVie making a guest appearance on the Fleetwood tour she said, “I would say there’s no more a chance of that happening than an asteroid hitting the earth. She is done. You know when you look in somebody’s face and you can just tell? She doesn’t want to do it anymore.”
