Giddings Irked By Bowie Story
The tabloid reckons LN has already tabled a bid to put on the legendary singer-songwriter at London’s Olympic Park and AEG will counter with an offer to play Hyde Park.
“Nobody would be more pleased than me if David Bowie toured,” Giddings told Pollstar, pointing out the Mirror story has left him inundated with offers.
“The last time he played the UK was at Isle Of Wight in 2004. Don’t think I haven’t thought about how great it would be if he came back on the 10th anniversary of that show,” said Giddings, who promotes IOW.
The Mirror story was not so much based on evidence that Bowie was going to hit the road again as the fact that nobody denied it.
“His guitarist Earl Slick recently said there were no plans in place for Bowie to tour before the end of the year – but intriguingly left the door open for 2014,” the paper explained.
Fellow musician Nile Rodgers also discussed the possibility of Bowie touring soon, saying he was “full of surprises.”
Another unnamed source close to Bowie told the Mirror there were “currently no live dates planned” but did not rule out his return to the stage.
Interest in Bowie has been rekindled by the rave reviews and sales of his new album The Next Day, his first release in 10 years.
