The Smukkeste Smukfest
More than 50,000 people per day showed for Denmark’s Smukfest Aug. 7-11, making it the most successful edition in the festival’s 34-year history.
The event regularly sells out, but this year the five-day tickets were gone two months before the festival started.
Last year it took until the opening day. Originally known as Skanderborg Festival, it’s adopted its nickname of Smukfest (beautiful fest) in recent years, while growing to the point that it may soon challenge Roskilde as the country’s biggest.
“We’re very satisfied,” said festival representative Poul Martin Bonde, not least because three years of site improvements have now been completed.
Acts helping to create the most beautiful Smukfest included Prince, Kings of Leon, Avicii, Alabama Shakes, MC Hammer, Saybia, The Raveonettes, and The Blue Van.
