Metaldays Pitches Camp
The new Slovenian festival is really no more than a change of name for what was Metalcamp, which takes place at a 12,000-capacity site in the Tolmin Valley, where the Soÿa and Tolminka rivers meet.
This year it’s gone from Metalcamp to Metaldays because Milunovic has split with former Berlin and Vienna-based co-promoter Rock The Nation and taken control of the festival.
His new partner is veteran German rock promoter Wolfgang Rott, who now specializes in marketing festivals. Between 7,000 and 8,000 people buy seven-day tickets, while between 2,000 and 3,000 buy daily tickets. The acts helping Metaldays pitch camp July 21-27 included In Flames, Sonata Arctica, Soilwork, Overkill, My Dying Bride, Subway To Sally, Exhumed, and Graveworm.
