Additional iTunes Festival Acts Announced

We’ve got some more free shows to tell you about. The month-long iTunes Festival now includes a stop on the Pixies’ world tour along with a gig added to Elton John’s post-appendicitis itinerary.

The annual free festival takes place throughout September at London’s Roundhouse. Elton and the Pixies weren’t the only acts added to the lineup this week. Fans will also be treated to performances by Arctic Monkeys, John Legend and Robin Thicke. Plus, No Ceremony/// opens for the Pixies, Tom Odell supports Elton John, and The Olms (featuring Pete Yorn & J.D. King) are booked the same day as previously announced act Vampire Weekend.

Earlier this week Elton John announced he was postponing his July gigs so he could undergo surgery for appendicitis. A spokesman said the singer was expected to return to play his remaining European shows scheduled in early September – which is just in time for his Sept. 12 appearance at iTunes Festival.

Elton said he was proud to be included in the lineup.

“For me, it’s a real thrill to play for young audiences – they’ve got so much energy and they all seem to know my songs,” he said, according to the BBC News.

“The iTunes Festival evokes the spirit of memorable gigs at the Roundhouse over many years… and I should know, I’ve played a few there in my time.”

Here is the schedule for the newest iTunes Festival acts:

Sept. 9 – Arctic Monkeys
Sept. 12 – Elton John, Tom Odell
Sept. 15 – The Olms (supporting Vampire Weekend)
Sept. 25 – Pixies, No Ceremony///
Sept. 28 – John Legend & Robin Thicke

The fest doesn’t have too many more spots to fill in. So far, the lineup includes Queens Of The Stone Age, Jack Johnson, Jessie J, Phoenix, Justin Timberlake, Sigur Rós, Paramore, Rizzle Kicks, Kings Of Leon, Vampire Weekend, Bahamas and Ludovico Einaud.

U.K. residents can win tickets via the iTunes Festival app and the iTunes store or through media partners including Channel 4, Global Radio and Metro.

The festival’s local media partners are also holding contests for fans residing in the U.S., Canada, Australia, Brazil, Europe, Japan and Mexico.

And for those of us who can’t make it to London, the shows will be streamed online.
