Changes: Rihanna, Jimmy Buffett, Pink

One of Rihanna’s weekend shows is rescheduled because of the NBA playoffs, Jimmy Buffett’s Thursday gig was postponed until tonight because of high winds, and Pink’s previously postponed April date has now been called off all together.

Rihanna was supposed to take the stage in Brooklyn, N.Y., at the Barclays Center for a two-night stand May 4-5. Thanks to the Brooklyn Nets/Chicago Bulls NBA playoffs series, Saturday’s show has been moved to May 7.

In a statement Barclays Center CEO Brett Yormark apologized to Rihanna’s fans for the inconvenience of the change.

“I want to thank Rihanna for working with us on this new date and for understanding what a Game 7 in Brooklyn means to the borough. We look forward to a special concert and I hope Rihanna will be our guest at Game 7.”

Tickets for the May 4 show will be honored at the new date. Refunds are also available at the original point of purchase.

Jimmy Buffett wasn’t able to take the stage at the Austin360 Amphitheater last night because of what local TV station KXAN refers to as “unseasonably cold and windy weather in the Austin area.”

In a blog post on his website May 2 the Margarita Man told fans that he got a call from his tour manager yesterday around noon telling the singer about the major wind problems.

“Wind gusts at the venue were too strong for us put up our circus tent and all the toys that go inside,” Buffet said. “Add to that a wind chill factor of below 40 at showtime. It certainly wasn’t going to be comfortable for anybody but more importantly the safety of my crew, band and fans was an issue. So I made the decision to postpone.

“This is not the first time we have had to postpone a show. There was the flood in California, the hurricane in the Gulf and now the windstorm in Texas. Rock n roll has never been predictable. I guess in forty years of doing it I have learned to roll with the punches and have wonderful fans who have been affected by things like this before. To those folks who can not stay until tomorrow night, I apologize for any inconvenience and will certainly refund your money if you can’t make it.”

He added that for fans who can make the rescheduled show Friday, he plans to “turn Austin into St. Somewhere” tonight at 8 p.m. “Some folks might called that island time.”

Finally, LG Arena in Birmingham, U.K., says Pink’s April 22 gig at the venue is no longer being postponed and has been canceled.

The gig was initially put on hold because the singer was suffering from an ear and respiratory infection.
