R&R Hall Of Fame Books More Talent For Induction Ceremony

Heart, Randy Newman, Public Enemy and Rush will sing for their supper, or rather, their awards at next month’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. They’ll get some help from Jackson Browne, John Fogerty and Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready.

Albert King and Donna Summer will be posthumously inducted. Record producer/manager/director Lou Adler and record producer/conductor/arranger/composer/trumpeter Quincy Jones are being honored with the Ahmet Ertegun Award for Lifetime Achievement.

The 28th annual ceremony is scheduled April 18 in Los Angeles at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live.

Today’s announcement from the Rock Hall says that Heart will take the stage with Mike McCready and Alice In Chains’ Jerry Cantrell. The Wilson sisters and the rest of the band will be inducted by Chris Cornell.

Plus, Jackson Browne and John Fogerty will play with Randy Newman; Spike Lee and Harry Belafonte will be there to pay tribute to Public Enemy; and Usher is performing in honor of Quincy Jones.

Carole King is performing for Lou Adler, who will receive his award from Cheech & Chong. The comedy duo starred in the cult hit “Up In Smoke,” which Adler directed in 1978.

In January the Rock Hall revealed that John Mayer is booked for double duty, performing in honor of Albert King as well as giving the induction speech for the late blues guitarist. Gary Clark Jr. will perform with Mayer.

The previous announcement also included the news that Rush is being inducted by Foo Fighters Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins; Don Henley will induct Randy Newman; and Summer will be honored with a performance from Christina Aguilera and Jennifer Hudson.
