Mellencamp, Kristofferson For MJ&M Events

Jack Ingram, actor Matthews McConaughey and University of Texas head football coach Mack Brown are launching their charity’s special events with an inaugural celebration featuring performances from John Mellencamp, Kris Kristofferson and Ingram himself.

Dubbed Mack, Jack & McConaughey (MJ&M), the charity aims “to impact the lives of kids by supporting programs dedicated to empowering underserved children.” Another way to describe the organization is “a BIG effort, with BIG name celebrities, and BIG fun events, with the goal to give back in a BIG way.”

MJ&M’s first BIG fun event is scheduled April 11-12 in Austin, Texas. The Gala Night kicks things off with an April 11 headline performance from Mellencamp at Austin City Limits Live At Moody Theatre. Austin’s Dale Watson opens the show.

“John is one of my all-time favorite musicians and a man I call a friend,” said McConaughey. “He’s someone who has put his best foot forward to help others in need and I am honored and proud to have him perform at this event.”

The next night the venue will host a Jack & Friends concert with Ingram featuring Kristofferson.

Additional events planned during the two days include the MJ&M Celebrity Classic Golf Tournament at Barton Creek Resort and an exclusive fashion show with Lela Rose at Neiman Marcus.
