Waiting For The End Of The World
Snoop Dogg’s last show ever, which is being called “The End of The World Party,” is set for Dec. 21 (of course) at Salt Lake City’s The Depot.
Gwar’s loyal followers will celebrate Gwarmageddon in Norfolk, Va., at NorVa.
Let’s hope that the world officially ends after Snoop Dogg and Gwar get a chance to perform. Otherwise, it’s really not much of a going away party. Also, if the acts playing on Dec. 21 are smart, they asked to be paid – in cash – before the big day.
There are shows scheduled all over the States to bid farewell to the world. And don’t let location hold you back. After all, if it’s all going to be over after Friday, why does it matter if you run up your credit card bill booking a plane ticket? Or perhaps you should jump in your car and enjoy the last few days on earth with a good old-fashioned road trip.
Talib Kweli, with a full band, is headlining the “End Of The World Dance Party” at Chicago’s The Mid. Another Windy City option is “Earth’s Last Stand” at House of Blues Chicago featuring Steel Panther.
In San Antonio, Texas, Max Stalling’s “End of the World Party” is set for Sam’s Burger Joint Music Hall. Geto Boys and special guest The Dirty Wormz are spending their last night on earth at Backstage Live San Antonio.
Over in Milwaukee, the Riverside Theatre is hosting “The Last Show On Earth” a day early. Hosted by local radio station WKLH personalities Dave & Carol, the Dec. 20 show features special guests Mary Mack, Greg Koch and Heywood Banks. Proceeds benefit the Ronald McDonald House.
Barenaked Ladies, Blues Traveler, Big Head Todd & The Monsters and Cracker are another group of acts who chose to celebrate early. They spent July and August touring together under a tour billed as the “Last Summer On Earth.”
What will you be up to Dec. 21? And which act would you want to see perform at the very last concert on earth?
