Coldplay Taking A Break?

At the end of Coldplay’s Australian tour at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium Nov. 21, singer Chris Martin announced, “This is the last big show for three years or so. I don’t want to stop.”

Was he referring to the band’s last Australian show for the next few years? Or touring in general?

There was no immediate confirmation from the band’s record label or management.

After playing Brisbane Martin sent out a tweet from Coldplay’s official Twitter page, but didn’t mention the touring comment.

He simply said, “Just finished in Brisbane: thank you to that and all of the other amazing audiences we have had recently. We are very grateful.”

Whether or not Coldplay will actually take a hiatus from touring, the guys still have a few more 2012 gigs on their schedule.

The British band is to play Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut Dec. 29 and Brooklyn’s Barclays Center Dec. 30-31. Coldplay headlines the first night in Brooklyn and the second night is a co-headline show with Jay-Z.

The Suncorp show was hailed as the best stadium show in Brisbane, gaining 40 percent of the vote in an online poll by the Brisbane Courier Mail.

Twenty percent of 1,000 respondents chose U2 (who played the city in 1993, 1996, 2006 and 2010) and 10 percent went for AC/DC’s show in 2010 at ANZ Stadium.
