Laughs & Music For Superstorm Sandy Victims

Seinfeld is performing, along with opening act Colin Quinn, at the NYCB Theatre At Westbury Dec. 19. All proceeds will go to local relief organizations. 

“I grew up on Long Island, and New York City is home,” Seinfeld said, according to Newsday. “This is a tough time for this area, and we’re just glad to be able to help in the recovery.”

Newsday noted that two previously scheduled Seinfeld/Quinn gigs – Nov. 8 in Brooklyn and Dec. 6 in Staten Island – have also been turned into benefit shows.

Another comedian doing his part to help victims is Louis C.K. The funnyman is taking the stage twice Nov. 17 at Staten Island’s St. George Theatre with one performance at 7 p.m. and the second show at 9:45 p.m.  

An announcement on Louis C.K.’s Twitter page says that all proceeds go to the Staten Island Hurricane Relief Fund.

“The goal is to entertain and help our neighbors on SI,” he tweeted. “If any scumbag tries to resell these tix for profit please don’t participate.”

Lastly, the concert at Madison Square Garden is being called “12-12-12” (A Concert For Sandy Relief).” As the name suggests, the concert is scheduled for Dec. 12.

“12-12-12” is brought to you by Clear Channel Media and Entertainment, The Madison Square Garden Company and The Weinstein Company, the same group that produced and sponsored the 9/11 benefit “The Concert for New York City.”

All proceeds from the live music event will help the millions in the tri-state area affected by Superstorm Sandy, with funds “administered directly to those who need it most, through the Robin Hood Relief Fund.”

More details, including the lineup, will be announced in the coming days.
