Sandy’s Wrath
As Hurricane Sandy pummels the Eastern Seaboard, many concerts have already been postponed or canceled, including shows by Journey, Bela Fleck, Joshua Radin and Brandi Carlile.

Simply put, the East Coast is a mess today. Forecasters predict Hurricane Sandy will make landfall tonight, hitting most of the Northeast Shore, including New Jersey, New York and Long Island. Fearing ocean surges made more threatening by high tides and a full moon, officials are battening down the hatches as they prepare for the worst.
“This is a worst-case scenario,” said Louis Uccellini, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s environmental prediction chief.
In New York City authorities have closed the Holland Tunnel as well as a tunnel connecting Manhattan and Brooklyn. Other cities in Sandy’s path include Baltimore, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.
Concert-wise, cancellations and postponements for shows scheduled for tonight are still being announced. The following is what Pollstar has received so far:

Idina Menzel’s Carnegie Hall performance scheduled for tonight has been moved to Nov. 4.
Bela Fleck and the “Banjo Summit” scheduled for tonight at McCarter Theatre at Princeton has been canceled.
Aimee Mann’s appearance at NYC’s Bowery Ballroom has been rescheduled for Oct. 31.
Journey with special guest Pat Benatar at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center scheduled for Oct. 30 has been canceled.
The above changes represent just a few of the shows scheduled for tonight that have been canceled or postponed because of the weather and do not represent all concerts affected by Hurricane Sandy’s Halloween surprise. If you have plans to attend any event on the East Coast – concerts, sports events, plays – tonight or tomorrow evening, be sure to check with the venue before leaving home.
