Rolling Stones Rumored To Play Glastonbury

Yep, that’s right. We’re talking about yet another rumor about The Rolling Stones’ tour plans. A “source” says Glastonbury Festival organizer Michael Eavis “is desperate to get the band confirmed” to headline the July 2013 event.

Here is the complete statement the unnamed source revealed to U.K.’s The Sun:

“The band are gearing up for a load of live dates but tend to leave big decisions like this until the last minute. Michael Eavis is desperate to get the band confirmed and has made initial contact with their people.

“It would be a massive coup to get the band playing Glasto on what could be their last round of live dates. Getting a decision from the whole band can be tough and at the moment they are without an agent for live shows, which is not helping the situation. But there is a good chance 2013 will finally be the year they make it.”

The Sun noted that another act rumored to play Worthy Farm in Pilton, England, next summer some time between June 26-July 1 is Mumford & Sons.

On Monday Glastonbury continued its tradition of selling tickets before announcing its lineup. Every single 2013 ticket was snatched up in a record-breaking one hour and 40 minutes after the onsale began.

Oh, and about the rumored gigs in London and New York City? The Sun claims those dates will be confirmed on Monday, Oct. 15.

Who knows – maybe The Sun is more trustworthy than all of the other tabloids and the big tour announcement is coming sooner rather than later? Today Mick Jagger tweeted, “Thanks to everyone who’s said great things about our new song Doom And Gloom. Be great to play it live one day.”
