Campbell has canceled his part of an upcoming Australian / New Zealand tour with Kenny Rogers scheduled for August. Rogers will still perform as planned.

A spokeswoman for Campbell said he was not up for “the very long flight that it would require.” The 76-year-old Campbell is battling Alzheimer’s disease.

Although there are no Australian dates for Madonna currently on the public record, the artist is canceling them anyway.

Madonna was going to announce the dates earlier this month but decided to hold off until after the Olympics, according to the BBC.

Now the word is there won’t be an MDNA Australian leg. The BBC reports Live Nation confirmed the cancelation Tuesday, saying the promotion company didn’t give any reason for pulling the plug. However, the broadcaster also reported there were rumblings that the tour had become “unviable due to high ticket costs and a crowded concert market.”

As to whether Madonna’s MDNA tour will continue next year, a representative put the kibosh on any 2013 hopes.

“Madonna’s tour will end in South America in December as planned,” the rep told the BBC. “That’s all we can say.”
