Jane’s Addiction, Tony Bennett On Bumbershoot Lineup
Produced by non-profit arts organization One Real and set for the Seattle Center Labor Day Weekend (Sept. 1-3), the “Bumbershoot: Seattle’s Music & Arts Festival” mainstage lineup at the KeyArena also includes a hip-hop double bill featuring Mac Miller and Big Sean, M83 and Awolnation. Expect more mainstage acts to be announced between now and September.
Who else is appearing at Bumbershoot? Glad you asked. Organizers released a lineup as long as your arm, listing M. Ward, The Helio Sequence, Mudhoney, Wanda Jackson, Keane, Damien Jurado and The Greenhornes with “very special guest” Eric Burdon, Ian Hunter, The Vaselines and Fishbone among the acts appearing on Bumbershoot’s many stages.
The festival is also introducing “genre-specific” lineups. For example the Americana Music Association will present a series of Americana bands on the Starbucks Stage, including The Jayhawks, Heartless Bastards and Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit.
Other genres include a blues lineup curated in partnership with the Highway 99 Blues Club and featuring performances by Harmonica House Party with Lee Oskar & Magic Dick, Karen Lovely and the Ty Curtis Band on Sunday and Ana Tijoux, Omar Souleyman, Bombino and Cascadia ’10 play on Monday.
There will also be a yet-to-be-announced heavy-metal lineup put together with the help of the folks at local club El Corazon.
“Every year we’re committed to present the most diverse festival lineup in the country,” One Reel Programming Director Chris Porter said. “This year is no exception – from well-known marquee acts to emerging artists, there is always something for everyone at Bumbershoot.”
Bumbershoot’s all-inclusive three-day tickets are currently on sale for the discounted price of $110 while single day passes are going for $40. Expect prices to increase as we count down the days to Bumbershoot 2012. Visit Bumbershoot.org for more information.
