Mick & Keith Make Up?

During an interview with Rolling Stone about the upcoming documentary commemorating the band’s 50 years longevity, Jagger and Richards talked about the latter’s autobiography, “Life,” and the somewhat derogatory remarks Richards aimed at Jagger.

“Looking back at any career you are bound to recall both the highs and the lows,” Jagger told the magazine.

“In the 1980s for instance Keith and I were not communicating very well. I got very involved with the business side of the Stones, mainly because I felt no one else was interested, but it’s plain now from the book that Keith felt excluded, which is a pity. Time I reckon to move on.”

Talking about “Life,” Richards said he regretted how the publicity for the book might have ticked off his longtime songwriting partner.

“Mick’s right,” Richards said. “He and I have had conversations over the last year of a kind we have not had for an extremely long time and that has been incredibly important to me.

“As far as the book goes, it was my story and it was very raw, as I meant it to be, but I know that some parts of it and some of the publicity really offended Mick and I regret that.”

Friction between Jagger and Richards, mostly as a result of Richards’ autobiography, has been suspected as one of the reasons The Rolling Stones may not tour in 2012 to commemorate the band’s 50th anniversary. Rolling Stone reported earlier this week that 2013 might be the year for a Stones tour and that the band might choose to do multiple nights in major markets rather than conduct a full-blown excursion across the globe.

The magazine also reported that Richards’ health might have had a hand in preventing a 2012 tour, saying the guitarist’s performances had “declined” since he “suffered a head injury” while in Fiji in 2006 during the “Bigger Bang Tour.”
