Hossack’s death was announced on the band’s website today saying a formal announcement will follow.

Hossack joined the Doobie Brothers in 1971 as the band’s second drummer. Together with John Hartman, the two drummers kept the rhythm throughout the band’s early ’70s period. Although Hossack left the band in 1975, he returned when the Doobie Brothers reformed in 1987. Hossack took a leave of absence from the band after being diagnosed with cancer in 2010.
