Staples Fall Lawsuit Reduced
A judge dismissed two allegations in the lawsuit filed by the parents of a 2-year-old boy who fatally fell at Staples Center last year.
Henry Tang and Hoai Mi Nguyen accused AEG and L.A. Arena Co. of false advertising and public nuisance – both of which were tossed by Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Susan Bryant-Deason. The primary cause of action for wrongful death remains, according to Los Angeles’ Daily Breeze.
The toddler fell 50 feet from a luxury box during a Lakers game. The judge dismissed the unfair business practices claim and denied an injunction prohibiting the venue from maintaining the “dangerous condition” of the luxury boxes, according to the paper.
City officials reportedly say guardrail heights at Staples are in line with municipal code provisions.
