Celebrating John “Joliet Jake” Belushi
Scheduled for March 5 at Joliet’s Rialto Theater, featured guest stars include original Blues Brothers members Paul Shaffer, Tom “Bones” Malone, “Blue” Lou Marini and Matt “Guitar” Murphy. There will also be music from another Belushi movie via Otis Day who appeared in “Animal House.”
Directed by John Landis and released in 1980, “The Blues Brothers” movie starred Belushi and Aykroyd as Joliet Jake and Elwood Blues and featured appearances by several artists, including Aretha Franklin, Cab Calloway, Ray Charles and James Brown.
The film also represented what was the next step for the fabled Blues Brothers, which began as a musical sketch on “Saturday Night Live” and progressed to a 1978 live album – Briefcase Full Of Blues – recorded at Universal Amphitheatre in Universal City, Calif.
The Blues Brothers’ legacy has been kept alive in recent years through The Official Blues Brothers Revue. Produced by Aykroyd and the Belushi estate, the show stars Wayne Catania and Kieron Lafferty as Jake and Elwood.
Expect to see a lot more of Jake and Elwood. On behalf of Aykroyd and Judy Belushi, Panacea Entertainment is on its own “mission from God” to position the official Blues Brothers across a wide range of platforms and properties. Plan on hearing more about this in the coming weeks.
Can’t make it to Joliet next month? Then check out the live webcast to be made available to Facebook users. Milyoni’s Social Live technology is also part of the mix, enabling fans to talk about the gig as it happens as well as invite others to watch.

The concert will also be broadcasted at 11 House Of Blues locations throughout the country. Fans can RSPV and prepay at The Official Blues Brothers Revue Facebook page. Just click here.
