The Nuns’ Frontwoman Dies
Jennifer “Miro” Anderson, 54, best known as vocalist and keyboardist for San Francisco punk pioneers The Nuns, died of cancer Dec. 16 in New York City.
Anderson, Alejandro Escovedo and Jeff Olener formed The Nuns in the mid-‘70s. The band went on to become a mainstay in the S.F. punk scene, including opening for the Sex Pistols at Winterland in 1978.
In addition to performing in reunion shows with The Nuns, Anderson was also a model and screenwriter, and worked for a law firm until last fall, according to SF Weekly.
