Heads Up About Andy Grammer’s Tour
Grammer released his self-titled debut album in June. The release features the gold-selling track “Keep Your Head Up” and his latest single, “Fine By Me.”
The performer, who got his start as a busker in Santa Monica, Calif., explained what fans can expect from the headline tour in comparison to his previous opening gigs.
“I think for starters it’s a whole different mentality. It’s the difference between an appetizer and the meal. An opener is like the preview when you sit down at the movies. This tour is like, ‘and now … for our feature presentation …’ The lights turn off and everyone is ready. It’s different.
“I will play a longer set; I’m also bringing out a keyboard/guitar player with my band this time and taking more chances musically. On headlining shows I think people are more willing to go on a musical journey with you. If you play a slow intense personal song as an opener, it can be a super downer. That same slow song in a headlining set might be the pinnacle of the show. I’m really ready to take a stab at that sort of pressure as well as the rewards that come with it.”
The tour kicks off Jan. 13 at San Diego’s House Of Blues, followed by a show the next night at House Of Blues in Anaheim, Calif. Dates are booked through Feb. 25 in Atlanta at Vinyl At Center Stage.
Stops on the route include Portland, Ore. (Jan. 20); Seattle (Jan. 21); Denver (Jan. 28); Minneapolis (Jan. 30); St. Louis (Feb. 1); Chicago (Feb. 3); Philadelphia (Feb. 9); New York City (Feb. 10); Boston (Feb. 11-12); Nashville (Feb. 14); Dallas (Feb. 18); and Orlando, Fla. (Feb. 23).
