The event, which featured North Mississippi All-Stars, George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic, and Soulive, among others, was to take place Dec. 29 to Jan. 2. The festival organizers recently posted on their Facebook page that Ticketbiscuit has been given the go-ahead for a full refund to those who purchased tickets through the presale.

The Facebook page tells the tale of woe, beginning when the organizers dispelled rumors the event was canceled and they were moving the event to “a more adequate site a few miles away.” Later, the event was moved indoors to the State Theatre and Local 662 in St. Petersburg.

Eventually, though: “Wow, what an overwhelming response. Originally this decision was based on making the music happen no matter what. We realize now that this is not what any of you want; we realize that to many of you this is extremely disappointing and we feel like you may have lost your faith in us. However, we would like to give it our all, as we have been working around the clock to make NYE awesome for you guys.”

Finally, on Christmas Eve: “It is our deep regret to inform you all that the festival will be officially cancelled. FULL refunds will be offered, despite the negative comments we are FULLY prepared to refund all money gained from presale tickets. This is not the way we had hoped for things to turn out, and we worked around the clock to prevent such an announcement, however, with the holidays and switching of venues it will not be possible to make this event the success we had hoped for. Full refund information will be provided on after the holidays. We do realize this is an EXTREME disappointment to all music fans and as much a disappointment to ourselves.”

The refunds were announced about an hour ago.
