Drake Invites Fans To Club Paradise

Drake is making up for his postponed fall tour with new North American and European dates scheduled from February through April.

The tour was postponed in October along with an announcement on Drake’s blog saying he needed more time to finish his new album, Take Care, because the “music means too much” to him “to get attached to dates.”

Putting the dates on hold worked out for Drake as far as his album is concerned. Take Care, which was released Nov. 15 on Young Money Entertainment and Cash Money Records, debuted on top of the charts. First-week sales for Take Care totaled over 630,000 units, marking Drake’s biggest first-week Nielsen SoundScan tally of his career and the third highest selling debut of the 2011.

Don’t be fooled by this story’s headline: The Club Paradise tour is not a club tour but rather a trek that will take the Canadian rapper to arenas and college campuses.

The North American dates kick off Feb. 14 in Coral Gables, Fla., at BankUnited Center at The University Of Miami. The 17-city tour wraps March 11 in San Diego at Viejas Arena.

Additional shows include Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena Feb. 17; Columbia, S.C., at Colonial Life Arena Feb. 21; New Orleans’ Lakefront Arena Feb. 25; Austin’s Frank Erwin Center Feb. 27; Tucson Arena in Arizona March 4; Los Angeles’ Galen Center March 5; and Fresno, Calif., at Save Mart Center March 8.

Kendrick Lamar and A$AP Rocky will provide support on the North American dates.

The European leg of the tour begins March 24 at The O2 Dublin in Ireland and runs through an April 25 gig in Nottingham, United Kingdom, at The Capital FM Arena Nottingham.

Drake will also play shows in France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Sweden and Norway.

A pre-sale for the European leg begins Thursday, followed by the general on-sale Friday. On-sale information for the North American leg will be announced soon.
