Odds & Ends – Lady Gaga, Eminem & Guns N’ Roses
A Gagariffic Tour
Lady Gaga apparently is shooting for something more than just another hit record. A British newspaper claims her next tour will be one for the record books.
Citing those ever-popular unnamed sources, London’s Sun newspaper says Gaga is planning a 450-date two-year tour with the intention of breaking U2’s record for the “highest grossing and most attended” tour … ever.
“She is planning to kick things off in Asia and India next year and go on a grueling world tour,” The Sun quoted the source as saying. “As is always the case with Gaga, the plans came to her in her sleep. She has a target of 450 dates. It has never been done before, but she doesn’t think that’s a reason not to try it.”
The newspaper notes that Gaga “hinted” about “huge plans” and that she had started to work on the stage design during an interview conducted a couple of weeks ago.
Eminem Fans Unhappy With Sound
Fans who saw Eminem perform two nights in Sydney are complaining about the show’s sound, saying it was really hard to hear the Real Slim Shady.
Eminem performed Friday and Sunday at the Sydney Football Stadium. However, if published reports are true, some fans could see their hero just fine but hearing him was another matter.
Australia’s Daily Telegraph newspaper says hundreds of fans are demanding refunds, claiming the sound at both shows was “atrocious.”
However, fans are not complaining about the sound (or lack thereof) throughout the stadium, only in certain areas, specifically the outer area “around section 50.”
The newspaper noted that people who paid $350 to sit close to the stage haven’t groused about their audio experience.
But there were plenty of folks dissing the sound via posts on musicfeeds.com.au. One fan complained that there was “no vocal, no top end, hardly any drums … no base, no guitar just samples,” while another said the audio for guest Lil Wayne was better than it was for Eminem.
One fan said it was like watching a mime perform.
“When Eminem tried to communicate with his fans, we were left with mouths agape attempting to read his lips,” the fan wrote.
The newspaper sez promoter Paul Dainty had yet to comment on the matter.
No Guns N’ Roses Tonight
There is no joy in Southaven, Miss. Guns N’ Roses has canceled its gig planned for tonight at the city’s DeSoto Civic Center.
Local TV station WSBT says “production issues” resulted in deep-sixing the concert.
