Evanescence Rocking For Peace

The concert takes place Dec. 11 in Oslo, Norway, at Oslo Spektrum Arena ANS, a day after the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony honoring President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, women’s rights activist Leymah Gbowee and democracy activist Tawakkul Karman.

The rock band joins a lineup that also features Sugarland, David Gray, Jill Scott, and Matthew Morrison of “Glee” fame.

The Nobel Peace Prize Concert airs globally in up to 130 countries and streams live Dec. 11 on CNN International at 8 p.m. Central European Time.

In October Evanescence began its first U.S. tour since 2007 and put out its third studio album, the band’s first release since 2006’s The Open Door.

The tour wrapped up Nov. 11 and was followed by shows in the United Kingdom, France and Germany.

After playing a Dec. 17 show in Port Of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, Evanescence will return to the U.S. in January for seven more gigs.

The new dates include Clemson, S.C., at Littlejohn Coliseum Jan. 13; Atlanta’s The Tabernacle Jan. 14; Tampa, Fla., at Carol Morsani Hall Jan. 16; Hollywood, Fla., at Seminole Hard Rock Live Jan. 17; Lake Buena Vista, Fla., at House Of Blues Jan. 18; Biloxi, Miss., at IP Casino, Resort & Spa Jan. 20; and North Little Rock, Ark., at Verizon Arena Jan. 21. Rival Sons will provide support.

A run of Japan dates is set Feb. 8-13.

Presale tickets for the new U.S. dates go on sale Wednesday at 10 a.m. Tickets go on sale to the general public beginning Friday.
