RHCP Promise Live Recordings

The Red Hot Chili Peppers are getting into the live recording biz. The band recently announced it will provide “professional-quality” recordings of its current tour via its website and plans to extend the practice to all future tours.

Fans will be able to choose between MP3, FLAC or Apple Lossless formats. So far, there’s been no word as to how much the band might charge for the recordings.

Touring in support of their latest album, I’m With You, the Red Hot Chili Peppers launched the first leg in Hong Kong in August. The band’s next date is Dec. 4 in Berlin at O2 World. Visit RedHotChiliPeppers.com for more info.

Gathering Early Bird Vibes

The annual East Coast festival honoring the legacy of Grateful Dead founder Jerry Garcia is launching its early bird sale this weekend.

Set for July 19-22 at Seaside Park in Bridgeport, Conn., Gathering Of The Vibes hasn’t yet announced anything even close to a lineup, but it will put a limited number of VIP packages and weekend passes up the day after Thanksgiving – a day organizers like to call “Black Tie Dye Friday.”

Selling for $175 each, the weekend passes will only go up in price as the Gathering draws near. RV passes will also be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

The VIP passes include exclusive entry, rock-star parking, shaded camping, catered meals, snacks, beverages and access to air-conditioned bathroom trailers and hot showers. Check out GoVibes.com for more information.

George Michael Tour Changes

Illness has forced George Michael to postpone dates on his “Symphonica” tour of Europe and the U.K.

On Monday Michael postponed that evening’s scheduled performance in Vienna, Austria, at the Stadthalle, and one day later scrubbed tonight’s gig in Strasbourg, France, at the Zenith. The latest word is that he has also postponed concerts planned for Saturday and Sunday in Cardiff, Wales, at the Motorpoint Arena.

Messages posted on Michael’s website indicate the missed dates will be rescheduled. One show that was postponed last month – Oct. 26 at London’s Royal Albert Hall – has been rescheduled for May 2.  Visit GeorgeMichael.com for everything you need to know.

All Good Ohio Bound

Set for July 19-22, the All Good Music Festival & Camp Out is leaving its longtime home atop at Marvin’s Mountaintop in West Virginia for the wide open spaces of Ohio’s Legend Valley.

Located in Thornville, Ohio, approximately 30 miles east of Columbus and formerly known as the Buckeye Lake Music Center, Legend Valley began hosting concerts in the late 1970s. Some of the acts that have played Legend Valley / Buckeye Lake over the years include AC/DC, The Allman Brothers Band, The Grateful Dead and Charlie Daniels Band.

A message posted on the festival’s website blamed various factors for the move, including traffic’s impact on the area and the fact that local officials were never that crazy about the multi-day event, going as far as to enact a “mass gathering ordinance.”
