Cockroach Infestation Shuts Down Sunset Strip’s Rainbow Bar
West Hollywood’s famed rocker hangout the Rainbow Bar and Grill has been forced to close temporarily after failing a health inspection due to a cockroach infestation.
KNBC-TV reports the Sunset Strip fixture shut its doors Monday after Los Angeles County inspectors found eight dead and seven live cockroaches near the cook line.
The Department of Health also cited the restaurant for other violations including grease and dust buildup.
The Rainbow says it hopes to reopen by Thursday.
The restaurant has loomed large in the history of LA’s rock music scene since 1972. In the 80’s it was the centerpiece of the Strip’s heavy metal scene, serving as a hangout for musicians like Motley Crue and Ozzy Osbourne.
