Linda Ronstadt’s Conversational Gig

Ronstadt, who hasn’t performed in public since 2009, told AARP Magazine in 2013 that she suffered from Parkinson’s Disease and that she couldn’t “sing a note.” 

But her upcoming Sept. 29 appearance at the Valley Performing Arts Center in Northridge, Calif., won’t feature any singing. That is, outside of an appearance by Conjunto Hueyapan providing a musical interlude.

Of course, with multiple Grammy wins, countless gold and platinum records and membership in the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame, Ronstadt should have plenty to talk about.

Guerrero is no slouch either when it comes to accomplishments.  His credits include talk shows and music specials for NBC, HBO, Univision, Telemundo, and PBS, where he co-produced the “Concert Of The Americas” with Quincy Jones.

“Linda’s gift as an extraordinary artist is well known, but she is also an extraordinary person.  There is no one like her,” Guerrero said.  “I expect to bring out her personal side during our conversation, in addition to celebrating all the amazing career highlights through images, audio and video clips.  While I did not meet Linda until we were both adults, I have always felt a close connection with her.  My dad, Lalo, and Linda’s dad, Gilbert, were good friends in our hometown of Tucson.  Linda swears she remembers my dad serenading her while she was still in diapers.”
