The Faces To Reunite For Charity

The show is part of the second annual “Rock’ n’ Horsepower” at Hurtwood Park Polo Club in Ewhurst, Surrey, Sept. 5.  The event is put on by Faces drummer Kenney Jones and his wife, Jayne, to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer.

Formed in 1969 by members of The Small Faces and once considered a worthy adversary of The Rolling Stones during the 1970s, The Faces included Stewart along with Ron Wood, Ronnie Lane, Ian McLagan, and Jones.   Lane, a multiple sclerosis sufferer, died of pneumonia while living in Texas in 1997.  McLagan, who also lived in Texas, died of a stroke in 2014.

Wood’s involvement with The Rolling Stones resulted in The Faces’ breaking up after the band’s 1975 tour. The Faces reunited for a series of shows in in 2010 and 2011.  However, Stewart wasn’t onboard for those gigs.  Instead, Simply Red’s Mick Hucknall handled frontman duties.

“This year is the 40th anniversary since The Faces parted ways so it’s about time we got together for a jam!” Jones said. “ Being in The Faces back in the day was a whirlwind of madness but my God, it was beyond brilliant.  We are pleased to be able to support prostate cancer in the U.K.”

Wood also had a comment about the upcoming show.

“Getting back on stage with the lads playing ‘Stay With Me’ and other favourites will be a blast and will make this a very special night.  Being in The Faces was a mad and brilliant time for all of us and although we don’t have Ronnie and Mac with us anymore this is our chance to remember them and say ‘Had Me A Real Good Time.’”
