Wood Brothers Take You To ‘Paradise’
Of course, stand-up bassist Chris is the Wood in Medeski Martin & Wood. Guitarist Oliver spent many years playing in Tinsley Ellis’ band and is the founder of King Johnson. The brothers, along with multi-instrumentalist Jano Rix, make up the trio known as Wood Brothers.
Due out Oct. 2 on Honey Jar Records/Thirty Tigers, Paradise marks a series of firsts for the band, including the trio’s first recording sessions at East Eye Sound, the Nashville recording studio owned by Black Keys guitarist/vocalist Dan Auerbach, and was the first time all three musicians wrote a Wood Brothers album collectively in the same room. Paradise also marks the first time Chris played electric bass on a Wood Brothers’ recording.
