It looks as if Pearl Jam’s week-long hint of a forthcoming big announcement has come to fruition.  The band began teasing fans via Twitter and Facebook shortly before the Fourth of July weekend.

Taking place Sept. 26 on the Great Lawn at New York’s Central Park, the Global Citizen Festival won’t charge you any money to pass through its turnstiles.  Instead, fans must win tickets by participating in online actions to eliminate poverty.  Completing your “Action Journey” enters you in a lottery to win a pair of tickets.  A limited number of VIP passes will go on sale July 10 at 10 a.m. EDT.

Yesterday, Beyoncé announced that Time For Change, the campaign founded by Gucci and led by the former Destiny Child member along with actress Salma Hayek Pinault, had entered a new partnership with Global Citizen to promote women’s equality.

Even if you can’t make it to the Big Apple, you’ll still have plenty of opportunities to experience the Global Citizen Fest.  Like last year, the MSNBC is a media partner for the event and will air the concert live on its cable channel and website.  The festival will be produced by Emmy Award-winning producer Ken Ehrlich (Grammy Awards).  Oscar-winning screenwriter Richard Curtis (“Bridget Jones’s Diary” “Love Actually”) will produce a one-hour special that will air on NBC Sept. 27 and on BBC One in the United Kingdom Sept. 28.  BBC Worldwide will distribute the program globally.

You can also watch the festival on YouTube via a stream presented by T-Mobile.  iHeartRadio and Tidal will also stream the show through their websites and apps.  Pop up radio station Radio Everyone will air highlights.
