Odds & Ends: John Fogerty, Celine Dion, iHeartRadio Music Festival, Ana Popovic

John Fogerty comes to the aid of a longtime fan … Celine Dion asks fans to submit videos of themselves performing one of her hits … iHeartRadio Music Festival ups its star power … Ana Popovic’s stolen van reportedly embarking on a life of crime.

It’s probably a safe bet to say Bianca Curnane’s love for John Fogerty’s music increased exponentially over the weekend.

Curnane wanted to see Fogerty in action when the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer played Philadelphia’s Mann Center For The Performing Arts June 27, but her current economic status prevented her from purchasing tickets.

So she turned to Craigslist to ask if the area’s bout with inclement weather was causing ticketholders to pass on Fogerty’s concert at the outdoor venue, according to local radio station WMGK.

“In hopes of miracle tickets for tonight’s show at the Mann.  Just don’t have the means to get tickets right now and am a HUGE CCR FAN,” Curnane wrote.  “With the impending storms, I thought maybe some people would back out and not be able to sell their tickets on such short notice. Good karma.  Thank you in advance.”

Turns out more than just fans were reading Craigslist that day.  The Fogerty camp responded by offering her tickets to the show under the condition that she called them the next day to describe how much she enjoyed the concert.

Sure enough, an envelope was waiting for her at the Mann’s will-call window.  On the front of the envelope were the words “Believe in little miracles.”  Inside were two front-row tickets for the show.

The radio station reports that Curnane “was practically brought to tears of joy” after she opened the envelope.   Now that’s how you maintain your fanbase.

Celine Dion is asking her fans to contribute to a video that will be part of the production for her residency at The Colosseum at Ceasars Palace in Las Vegas.

The singer has requested fans submit videos of themselves performing her 2003 version of the Billy Steinberg/Tom Kelly song “I Drove All Night,” made famous in 1989 by Cyndi Lauper.  A limited number of clips will be incorporated into a montage for the video to be shown during her Vegas gigs. Requirements for the vid include that it must be shot in a recognizable part of your town and that you “let go of a red balloon between you and the camera.”  Fans can sing or lip sync the song.

Meanwhile, the world awaits anxiously for iHeartRadio Music Festival lineup announcement detailing the entertainment inside the venue.  Last year’s extravaganza included performances by Taylor Swift, Usher, Nicki Minaj, One Direction and Ed Sheeran.  Stay tuned.

Ana Popovic has one more reason to sing the blues.  Not only was her van stolen while in a Chicago-area hotel’s parking lot June 26, but the vehicle may have embarked on its own life of crime.

Chicago’s ABC 7 WLS-TV reports that the 2009 Ford Econoline was allegedly used in a “crash-and-grab” at a Tinley Park Best Buy store June 28. Popovic identified the van as hers after security video of the heist appeared on television.

While the Best Buy robbery might have been the vehicle’s first felony, it apparently wasn’t the last.

“According to the investigator in the Best Buy robbery, yesterday morning it was caught on camera AGAIN – used in ANOTHER (successful) robbery a few hundred miles away,” Popovic posted on Facebook.
