Jesus And Mary Chain Sets ‘Psychocandy’ East Coast Dates
Called a “decadent alt-rock masterpiece of bubblegum pop – with ‘Just Like Honey,’ ‘My Little Underground’ and ‘Never Understand’ – drowned in feedback,” by Rolling Stone, 1985’s Psychocandy earned spot No. 269 on the magazine’s “500 Greatest Albums Of All Time” list.
“Psychocandy was meant to be a kick in the teeth to all of those who stood in our way at the time, which was practically the whole music industry,” Jesus And Mary Chain co-founder Jim Reid said. “In 1985 there were a great many people who predicted no more than a six month life span for the Mary Chain.”
Jesus And Mary Chain’s first Psychocandy U.S. date is at the FYF Festival in Los Angeles Aug. 22.
Now the band has brought the East Coast into its grand plan. The newly added gigs are Union Transfer in Philadelphia Sept. 22 and Terminal 5 in New York Sept. 24. Tickets for both shows go on sale June 12. Check out Jesus And Mary Chain’s Facebook page for more info.
