Alabama Shakes Expands Summer Plans

Sound & Color, which hit No. 1 on the Nielsen SoundScan album chart, is picking up glowing reviews from publications ranging from USA Today to Pitchfork to NPR.

Rolling Stone says, “This is a weirder, woozier, fiercer and sexier record than their debut in nearly every way.”

Howard talked about the evolution of the band’s sound in a recent interview with the Associated Press.  

“It’s a pretty eclectic mixed bag of things that we like. It wasn’t intentional. I think we just had grown up as artists and players. There’s so much that we are into and so much that we like. The roots of our music will always be there, because that’s how we get along with each other. But there are so many languages, as far as music goes, that we can speak with to one another.”

Fans that missed the band when it played Georgia and California earlier this year will be happy to hear the band has planned return trips to those states this summer. After performing two  NYC shows in March, the group will be back in the Empire State in September with a stop in Lewiston. New stops include Louisville, Ky.; Boise, Idaho; Troudale, Ore.; and Grand Prairie, Texas.
