Gregg Allman Sets ‘Laid Back’ Fest

It goes without saying that Gregg Allman will headline his own “Laid Back Festival” planned for the East Coast in August. With a lineup featuring Doobie Brothers, Bruce Hornsby and The Noisemakers, Jaimoe’s Jasssz Band and City Of The Sun, the festival’s first wave of ticket onsales begins later this week.

Named after Allman’s 1973 debut solo album, the inaugural Laid Back Festival is set for the Nikon at Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh, N.Y., Aug. 29. A joint venture between Allman and Live Nation, the event is aiming to establish a rep for having great food and drink. To accomplish that goal, Allman and LN are curating more than 20 of the finest regional eateries, breweries and wineries, including Guy Fieri’s BBQ “Grill Out” as well as Harvest Moon Oysters, Port Jeff Brewing Company, Jamesport Vineyards, Oldies Grill, and Backyard Brine Pickle Co.

“Creating this has been a lot of fun,” Allman said. “Good music, good food and drink and a beautiful beach – what could be better?”

So be sure to bring your appetite along with your thirst for something fine. And remember to arrive before dinnertime because Laid Back begins at 4 p.m.
