Bob Dylan Unveils Spring Routing

The one and only Bob Dylan has locked down dates for his first outing of the year. The U.S. road trip will take the living legend to cities such as Savannah, Ga.; Memphis; Oklahoma City and San Antonio.

Dylan, who was honored last week as the 2015 MusiCares Person Of The Year, has been earning praise all over the place for his latest LP. Shadows in the Night, which is made up of covers of pop standards made famous by Frank Sinatra, certainly sounds like a strange concept, but somehow Dylan makes it work.

The Guardian gave the album 5 stars, writing, “It may be the most straightforwardly enjoyable album Dylan’s made since Time Out of Mind. He’s an unlikely candidate to join the serried ranks of rock stars tackling standards: appropriately enough, given that Frank Sinatra sang all these songs before him, he does it his way, and to dazzling effect.”

And for everyone who’s ever complained about the singer/songwriter’s vocals, Rolling Stone says you just might be pleasantly by the album, which was released Feb. 3.

“The great shock here is Dylan’s singing,” RS writes. “Dylan’s focus and his diction evoke his late-Sixties poise and clarity with an eccentric rhythmic patience in the way he holds words and notes across the faint suggestions of tempo. It is not crooning. It is suspense.”
