Mike Love Has Book Deal; Memoir Due Out In 2016
Love has an agreement with Blue Rider Press for “Good Vibrations: My Life as a Beach Boy.” Blue Rider, an imprint of Penguin Random House, told The Associated Press on Wednesday that the memoir is scheduled for a 2016 release. It will come out, appropriately, during the summer.
“I’ve had an incredible life with a lot of triumphs, my share of heartbreak and some pretty amazing experiences,” Love said in a statement released through the publisher. “There are a lot of things I haven’t shared before, and I’m looking forward to opening up about my life and my work in this book.”
According to Blue Rider, the 73-year-old Love will discuss his “complex” relationship with Brian Wilson, his cousin and the Beach Boys’ leader during their peak years in the 1960s. Love and Wilson have fought over songwriting credits and creative control of the group.
Love will be assisted on his book by James S. Hirsch, who has written biographies of boxer Rubin “Hurricane” Carter and baseball great Willie Mays.
