“Once again we show that regional events in Australia can also win major awards, even up against those fully funded by bodies such as (the government’s cultural agency) Destination NSW,” Bluesfest director Peter Noble said.

Bluesfest, recently nominated in the Pollstar International Music Festival category, is up for major festival and events at the NSW Tourism Awards Nov. 27.

Australian Event gongs were also handed out to country festival Deni Ute Muster for best regional event. Vivid Sydney, “the festival of light, music and ideas,” which this year set a new attendance record of 1.43 million over 18 days, won best tourism event. Ash Sounds, the company which founded the Falls Festival, now grown to three events, was lauded for Best Achievement.
