How To Get Backstage
Anthony Skinner, a comedian who goes by the name Chillz, attended Cyrus’ concert at
He told Fasterlouder.com he found a neon vest, boots and cleaning gloves in a storeroom outside the arena. He put his shoes and possessions into a garbage bag and, after donning the gear, walked past security using the oldest trick in the book: If you act like you’re supposed to be there, you’ll probably get in.
“It was not easy to get in at all,” he said. “There was about 50-plus staff dismantling the massive amount of production and rigging etc and loading it onto trucks, as well as security everywhere. I was surprised I didn’t get checked at the boomgate, but I was disguised pretty well.”
Once inside, Skinner was able to make his way into a hall between Cyrus’ dressing room and the green room, where he pretended to sweep the floor. He said he pretended to “clean for like an hour” but got to see some celebs along the way.
“The first recognizable face I saw was Chris Lilley, and then Suhana Lye from The Faders, who was looking incredible,” he told FasterLouder. “Their dressing room was opposite the green room and I was in the hall between the two, sweeping. I’m not sure what people are imagining going on in her green room post-show celebration, but it was just a small gathering of her friends listening to tunes and celebrating the awesome show.”
Skinner took some selfies along the way, along with snapping a photo of the note he planned to give to Cyrus that included his phone number and Twitter and Instagram accounts.
“She was last to leave the green room and security was the tightest thing I’ve ever seen – and I’ve seen some tightness,” he added. “Soon as she left, they surrounded her and lined the walls of the hallway escorting her.”
Despite security, Skinner managed to say hi as the artist was escorted out, and handed over his favorite jacket to a member of Cyrus’ entourage as a gift for her.
