Ga. Promoter Charged With Stiffing Vendors

A promoter in Augusta, Ga., was recently arrested after a vendor claimed he’d stiffed him on a show – and could soon face additional charges.

Campbell “Cam” Griffin was charged with felony theft of services after a restaurant owner provided food and alcohol for a Sept. 19 concert at  but was never paid the $6,000 he was contractually promised, according to a police report obtained by the Columbia County News-Times.

Following the arrest, the owner of a sound company and other vendors including a portable toilet company and a medical services provider reportedly stepped forward to claim they’re also owed money from Griffin ranging from $400 to around $2,500.

Columbia County sheriff’s Capt. Steve Morris told the News-Times he expects the district attorney’s office will include the new charges in an indictment against Griffin.

Griffin turned himself in to authorities Oct. 30 and was released after posting a $10,000 bond, the paper said.
