One Offs: Stevie Wonder, Flea
You know the holiday season is near when Stevie Wonder starts talking about toys. The music legend has set his 19th annual House Of Toys benefit concert benefiting the We Are You Foundation for Dec. 20 at the Forum in Los Angeles.
What makes this an extra special House Of Toys event is that it will serve as an encore for Wonder’s Songs In The Key Of Life tour the classic album performed from start to finish.
A presale begins Oct. 28 and general onsales launch Nov. 1. Click here for more details.
There’s no sparing of star power for the fourth annual benefit for Silverlake Conservatory Of Music.
Hosted by Red Hot Chili Peppers Flea and Anthony Kiedis, the Nov. 1 event will take place in Beverly Hills at the home of business magnate Ron Burkle and feature performances by Bruno Mars and Rufus Wainwright.
Co-founded by Flea, the Conservatory is dedicated to giving children a musical education, including free instruments, private lessons and scholarships. Kiedis sits on the organization’s board.
As you might suspect, this is definitely designed for folks with deep pockets. The benefit includes a silent auction where attendees can bid on works by such artists as Damien Hirst, Raymond Pettibon, Cecily Brown, Ed Ruscha, Gus Van Sant and others.
“This is our time, this is our children’s time,” Flea said. “Come celebrate with us and help build great music education for all children in Los Angeles. The Silverlake Conservatory Of Music is for all of us.”
