Ultra Japan Draws 42K
More than 42,000 attended the festival at the specially built Odaiba Ultra Park in the waterfront district of Tokyo. Other artists included Martin Garrix, Alesso, Axwell-Ingrosso, Fedde Le Grand, Steve Angello and W&W.
Parts of the concert were televised on the commercial Fuji TV station and the entire show was streamed on Ultra’s official YouTube channel.
Ultra already stages yearly editions in Korea and Thailand. In other electronic music news, the Livescape Group recently announced the full lineup for another new concert event. It’s The Ship will be Asia’s largest music festival aboard a cruise ship, namely, the Royal Caribbean International’s Voyager of the Seas.
The expedition will set sail from the Marina Bay Cruise Center in Singapore Nov. 21 and return Nov. 25. It will dock on the tropical island of Langkawi Nov. 23 for a beach party hosted by hip-hop star Lil Jon.
Among other acts slated to appear are Alex Metric, Basement Jaxx, Chvrches, and The Bloody Beetroots. There will also be about two dozen Asian artists.
Organizers expect 3,800 people to join the cruise. Tickets range from $430 to $4,000 per person, depending on the room. Tickets include meals, some beverages and free use of the ship’s facilities. Registration closes Nov. 1.
