Primavera Back In Barcelona
Nobody’s saying last year’s Primavera Sound Touring Party was too much of a strain on its finances and logistics, but the top Spanish festival organiser has decided to once again confine its autumn bash to Barcelona.
Since 2006 Primavera Sound, which at the end of May had 47,500 per day for its main bash in Barcelona, has staged a smaller festival focusing on upcoming talent in the same city’s clubs in November.
It was a three-day event. Last year Primavera took on a far more ambitious autumn schedule, turning the Barcelona three-dayer into a two-week tour that took in nine Spanish cities including Madrid, Valencia, Bilbao, Santander, Zaragoza and Valladolid. It also went to France, where four acts played a night in Bordeaux, before several others headed off to the UK for shows in London and a two-dayer at Pontins Holiday Camp in Camber Sands.
The UK leg was organised by All Tomorrow’s Parties, which has money problems over its canceled Jaberwocky Festival and may not have wanted to stage a repeat, but Ana Anaya from Primavera’s press office says this year the festival wanted to refocus on showing new talent in Barcelona.
Primavera Club is Oct. 31 to Nov. 2 and features 44 acts playing in club including Apolo, La [2] de Apolo, Teatre Principal, El Teatro Latino and Sidecar.
