Mary Lambert Takes Her Heart On The Road

The Seattle-based singer/songwriter told fans her big news with the following message on her website:

“I’M PACKING ALL MY SHOES AND GLITTER AND GOING ON TOUR BABES. HOT DOGS FOR EVERYONE!!!!!!”

She adds, “It’s my first headlining tour with a band and a crew and I feel so fancy! YAYAYAYAYAYAY!”

Lambert got her big break as the featured vocalist on the Macklemore & Ryan Lewis song “Same Love,” which she also co-wrote. Her work on The Heist track earned her Grammy nominations for song of the year and album of the year.

She expanded the “Same Love” chorus into the song “She Keeps Me Warm.” The single is included on her 2013 EP, Welcome to the Age of My Body.

Now Lambert is getting ready to release her debut album, Heart On My Sleeve, which is due out on Capitol Records Oct. 14. The LP’s first single is “Secrets.” The official video has received nearly 2.5 million views since it was published July 31. A few weeks ago she released the audio for a version of “Secrets” featuring B.o.B.

“This year has been the best of my entire life, which is not to say it hasn’t come with its fair share of hurdles, heartbreak, and harsh lessons,” Lambert says.

“I can only write about the experiences I’ve had. I signed to a major label. I went through a break-up. I figured out how to be an independent person. I have been terrifyingly honest to the public about traumatic events in my life. I met the woman of my dreams. I have been on the road nonstop, away from those I love, but with the opportunity to sing about gay rights to hundreds of thousands of people. This album is inspired by the depth of all of that love, and the journey that it takes to get there.”
