Eminem Caught Up In Elections
With New Zealand going to the polls Sept. 20, the major political parties are using rock music to draw younger voters. However, the National Party got into hot water with its campaign ad, with fans seeing its music as reminiscent to Eminem’s “Lose Yourself.”

Campaign manager Steven Joyce insisted the similarities were coincidental. He said the music was licensed through an Australian company that had full rights to it and the party had done independent checks for copyright issues.
The party had a problem with music before. In 2007, a DVD created about leader John Key was withdrawn after EMI Music warned about a piece that sounded like Coldplay’s “Clocks.”
