The Knife Announces Breakup & Final Tour
Headed up by siblings Karin and Olof Dreijer, The Knife announced the breakup in a post on its website as well as via an email interview with DazedDigital.com.
When asked whether the past couple of years had reenergized the duo’s interest in The Knife, Karin told Dazed, “For me, The Knife is anything and nothing. It can be whatever you want. At the moment, The Knife is 25 people touring and even more people documenting the process, making videos and helping us out with different things. When we finish the tour now in November we will close down, it’s our last tour. We don’t have any obligations to continue, it should only and always be for fun.”
Since forming in 1999, The Knife put out four studio albums. Its final LP, Shaking the Habitual, was released in April 2013.
A statement on the act’s website described how the duo had reworked its show last winter, ahead of its spring U.S. tour.
“The performers, previously known as dancers, learnt how to sing and play instruments, the stage got three levels, Shannon Funchess joined us and the show became more fun and shiny. We performed it in the US in the spring and now we would love you to join us in our dance for some last shaking moves.”
On Thursday The Knife posted a short video to give fans a peek at the live show.
